Welcome to stories from the roads
For many years I was living the lesbian dream until my second marriage crashed. The pandemic only amplified this sense of isolation, forcing me to confront the fact that I was living in a predominantly heterosexual environment. My life as a lesbian had hit rock bottom. The irony of it all was that I saw the gay flag everywhere. But where were the lesbians? The clubs and bars for women had closed down years ago. It's funny, every lesbian I meet seems to be wondering the same thing: "Where's the rest of us?" This question sparked a movement within me. Now I'm on a mission to find out and collect stories of lesbian and queer lives, to show the world that we are here, that we are vibrant, that we are not alone. We never have been and never shall be. Where do we meet? My journey across Europe answered that question, not just with locations, but with a collection of photographs celebrating our spaces and stories. Each new place I explore adds to this collection. These high-quality art posters bring our queer world into the light, reminding myself and others that we are not alone. Ultimately, my journey isn't just to different countries, but to the exploration of freedom in how we choose to live. Initially, I sought out other lesbians, but my travels have revealed that the question "Where do we meet?" is universal. I've added photos from another world that's very important to me. Nature—flowers, vegetables and fruits in particular—gives me the strength to keep exploring the human experience. Sometimes the magic is closer than we think. Have you looked at an apple lately?

TRAHÜTTEN: There is a queer comeback in the Austrian countryside. This summer I visited Austria's first queer hotel run by the non-binary queer artist couple Io Tondolo and Itshe Petz. Dedicated to welcoming queer people back to rural life, they even host women-only events for lesbians, bisexual, transgender, and heterosexual women.
